When it comes to passwords, the best line of defense is frequent password changes. Cybersecurity experts recommend changing your password every three months. There may even be situations where you should change your password immediately, especially if you suspect a security breach, of if you notice any of the following:

  • Your account was hacked.

  • You suspect unauthorized access.

  • You have not logged in for a while.

  • You have shared your password insecurely.

  • You have received an email or notification about a password change request.

  • You have logged in to your accounts on other people's devices.

  • You have used an unsecure network.

  • You discover malware.

Changing your password regularly can help to protect your data and reduce your risk of exposure to cyberattacks. If you forget your password, you can reset it in TrueAuto.

Change your password

If you would like to change your password in TrueAuto, you can navigate to the My Account arrow in upper-right of the page, then click Change Password.

On the next screen where you are prompted to enter it, change the Password in the provided fields, then click OK.

Reset your password

On the Login screen, click the Forgot your password? link if you want to recover or reset your password. You will receive a temporary password sent to the email you registered with TrueAuto. Proceed with using the temporary password to perform a password reset.

Strong password format requirements

IMPORTANT: Minimum length is 8 characters and maximum length is 15 characters, which include at least 1 lowercase letter (a-z), 1 uppercase letter (A-Z), 1 numeric character (0-9), and 1 special character (for example ~`!@#$%^&*()-_+={}[]|\;:"<>,./?).

The new password cannot be similar to the previous 3 passwords used.

Additional Notes:

  • Secure your digital life with password best practices. Choose a long, easy-to-remember but hard-to-guess passphrase as your password. You should also avoid using the same password for multiple services or websites. Securely store your passwords.

  • Since entering passwords is encrypted and your passwords have special characters, TrueCommerce recommend you type your password in Notepad/WordPad, then copy/paste it to ensure it is correct.
